2. Requirements for raw materials of cold heading and forging process
1. The chemical composition and mechanical properties of raw materials should comply with relevant standards.
2. The raw materials must be spheroidized and annealed, and the metallographic structure of the material is spherical pearlite grade 4-6. 3. The hardness of the raw material. In order to reduce the tendency of the material to crack as much as possible and improve the service life of the mold, the cold drawn material is also required to have the lowest possible hardness to improve the plasticity. Generally, the hardness of raw materials is required to be HB110~170 (HRB62-88).
4. The dimensional accuracy of cold drawn materials should generally be determined according to the specific requirements of the product and the process conditions. Generally speaking, the dimensional accuracy requirements for diameter reduction and strong shrinkage are lower.
5. The surface quality of cold drawn materials requires a lubricating film that is matte and dark in color, and the surface must not have scratches, folds, cracks, naps, rust, oxide scales, pits and other defects. Otherwise, the service life of the tungsten carbide cold heading mold will be reduced.
